The Home and Life Orphanage was started by a young Thai industrial engineer, Niroot Maneejack and his wife Rasa.
The couple begn the project 2 years ago, using their own finances, after caring for several homeless children who had lost their families during the Tsunami. Discovering more hmeless children living on the streets and scrounging food from rubbish bins, including a 15 year old boy caring for sisters aged 13 and 7 years old., their foster family rapidly grew.
Niroot has since resigned from his job to complete their dream to raise the children as an extended family rather than operate the orphanage as an institution.
The orphange has recently had assistance complete the building works, but is desparately in need of funds for the daily operation of feeding the children and sending them to school.
A major problem at Home & Life is that the property borders a river which every rainy season erodes several meters of ground , and there is an urgent need to find funding to build a retaining wall to keep the river at bay.
